Day 1:

Registration and Residence Move-In:

Welcome to Trinity College, 2T3 Residents! Summer is finally over and your time at Trinity is about to begin! Bring your gear to St. Hilda’s Welcome Desk or Trinity Proper Welcome Desk to move in to the appropriate building, and then head on over to The Buttery to sign in and receive your orientation wristband!

Recommended: Label all your moving boxes with your room number in big, bold font! Arrive early so you can attend Orientation Week events for the day!

Commuter Registration:

Time: 11 AM – 12:30 PM
Location: The Buttery

Welcome to Trinity College, 2T3 Commuters! Summer is finally over and your time at Trinity is about to begin! Head on over to The Buttery to sign in, receive your orientation wristband, and meet your peers!

Recommended: If you plan on joining the Commuter Pairing Program, ask to put your belongings in lockers! 

Awkward Lunch:

Time: 12:30 – 1:30 PM

Location: Kirkwood Meadows

Ah yes, the most awkward lunch of the week: it’s time to mingle! On the bright side, there will be amazing food! 

Recommended: Talk to everyone, including your orientation leaders! Find other students who will be in  your orientation group (Hint: look at the number written on their hand)

Don Meeting:

Time: 1:30 – 2:30 PM

Location:

Meet your Resident Don and other students living on your floor! Your Don is an academic and social resource who will be a resource to you throughout the year.

Recommended: Learn how they can help you and where they live on your floor!

Commuter Meeting:

Time: 1:30 – 2:30 PM

Location: Melinda Seamen

The Commuter Information Session is intended for incoming commuter students to get to know fellow commuter students, make friendships, as well as learn about commuter life tips and tricks at Trinity College. 

Commuter Pairing Program:

Time: 2:30 – 2:50 PM
Location: Melinda Seamen

Interested in hosting a commuter student or being hosted by a resident student? It’s a great way to quickly make a new friend for the week and will be super appreciated! Come on down to meet your pair!

Recommended: Store your belongings in the lockers in the Larkin Building basement, not in your resident partner’s room, as you will not have the key to their room for the duration of the week.

Opening Ceremony

Time: 3 – 4 PM
Location: Backfield

It’s time to celebrate! This is your official welcome to the week ahead. You will be updated on what to expect during the week and will be introduced to members of the community!

Recommended: Keep up the enthusiasm!

Trinity Tours:

Time: 4 – 5:30 PM

Location: Start in Backfield

The Trinity Tours will cover all of the cool places you’ll get to know and love throughout your time here at the college. Your Orientation Leader will take you through a walkthrough of what you can expect of being a student at Trinity College. Common rooms, residence spaces, Strachan food – we’ll explain it all here!

Dinner:

Time: 5:30 – 7:30 PM

Location:

Your first of many meals in Strachan Hall! Get familiar with the dining hall and practice the infamous act of Strachan Sitting (staying in Strachan for a long amount of time and talking to everyone that sits next to you at the table).

Recommended: Don’t Strachan Sit for too long. Your legs need a stretch!

Trinapalooza:

Time: 9 PM – 1 AM

Location: Backfield

Welcome to your first night at TrinFest. For this special night, we bring you to Trin-a-palooza. Come in your festival apparel as your Trinity journey starts under the stars with good music, food trucks, and plenty of festival games. 

Recommended: Come to Whit Common Room at 8 to pick up your flower crowns and flash tattoos! Come wearing your best festival outfits.

Movie Under the Stars:

Time: 9 – 11:30 PM

Location: JCR

It’s been a long day, why not get away from the hustle and bustle and take in a movie and popcorn in the JCR, while lying cozy with bean bags!

Recommended: Bring your blankets for extra comfort!

Day 2:

Trin101:

Hosted by the Office of the Dean of Students, 2T3’s will be introduced to important academic information and resources aimed towards student success,

Recommended: There’ll be a lot of information, but they are always available if you miss something afterwards!

Lunch:

Time: 12 – 1 PM

What’s cookin’, good lookin’? Step into the quad for a delicious BBQ lunch!

International Mixer and Q&A Session

Time: 4 – 5:30 PM
Location: Melinda Seaman

Welcome international students! Come and meet some of your fellow international frosh and learn some handy tips from upper year international students. There will be a short presentation followed by a Q and A session. Afterwards enjoy some food, meet the Trinity international student clubs and most importantly your fellow international 2T3s.

Lost Desert:

Time: 4 – 5 PM

Location: Backfield

Cool off and stretch your legs after Academic Orientation with a Backfield Bonanza! Get soaked and let loose with a friendly water balloon fight. For those less inclined, grab a #NewProfilePic at the photobooth!

Trin x Woodsworth x Innis: Block Party

Time: 6 – 10 PM

Frosh week is all about meeting new people. Get a head start on meeting our neighbours at Woodsworth College and Innis College, while indulging in cotton candy, popcorn, and plenty of carnival games.

Day 3:

Double Decker Bus Tour:

Time: 10am-12pm

Location: Leave from Quad

New to Toronto? Want to be a tourist in your own city? Join us in a double decker bus tour as we showcase all the greatest spots in the city in this comfortable ride! Spots are limited, so come quick!

Recommended: A camera or selfie stick to look extra tourist-y!

Royal Ontario Museum:

Time: 10am-12pm

Location: Depart from Quad

Head on over to see cool exhibits at the Royal Ontario Museum with the group, including Gods in My Home: Chinese New Year with Ancestor Portraits and Deity Prints, In the Age of Rembrandt: Dutch Paintings from the Museum of Fine Arts, and more!

Trinlympics:

Time: 10am-12pm

Location: Backfield

Teams will play head-to-head in various trivia and active games. Who will win the Trinlympics? Come prepared to fight for the championship!

Backyard Animals
Time: 12:00pm – 2:00pm

Location: Melinda Seaman Quad

Frosh week can be hectic, so come unwind with our special barnyard guests. Come visit the Melinda Seamen Quad at St.Hildas to see which furry animals we’ve invited for you to meet!

TCLI Quad Debate and Lunch:

Time: 1:00pm – 2:00pm

Location: Quad

Join the oldest debating society in Canada for a light-hearted introduction to College life in its first debate of the year. Prepare to giggle, or perhaps cry. Just be warned that while snacks are provided, tissues are not. The debate will take place in the Trinity Quad. Lunch will be provided!

Coachella Crawl:

Time: 2:00pm – 5:00pm

Location:

Students will be divided into teams of 10 to compete in a Coachella-themed scavenger hunt around UofT campus and the streets of Toronto. This skill-testing exercise challenges students to explore their new home, employ collaborative teamwork and make new friends. A prize will be available for the first-place team to finish the crawl. 

Recommended: Challenge by choice!

Mindful Moments, Yoga, and Tea in the Quad

Location: Quad

Time: 2:30pm-4:00pm

Come enjoy the afternoon sunshine with some relaxing mindfulness mediation, yoga, and refreshing tea. All levels of experience with yoga and meditation are encouraged to participate. Students are encouraged to bring their own yoga mat or towel as a limited supply of mats will be provided for use during the session. The event is hosted by Ramata, Trinity’s Associate Director, Community Wellness in partnership with the Orientation Team.

Recommended: Come early. First 10 attendees will get a free yoga mat courtesy of the Trinity Community Wellness team. 

Provost’s Dinner:

Time: 5:30-7:30

Location: Strachan Hall

Join the Trinity’s provost as she hosts the first formal dinner of the year.

Recommended: Frosh shirts encouraged !!!

Neon Nights:

Time: 9:00pm-1:00am
Location:

You can roll up to an all-access backstage party in your snazziest shades in the Neon Nights dance! DJ Playlists will feature headliners and retro tunes all night long. While rocking out, be sure to be dressed for a spectacular blacklight party, and sunglasses are a must. Pizza included!

Recommended:  Wear white or neon if you want to glow in the dark.

DIY Daze:

Time: 9:00pm-11:30pm

Location:JCR

Not sure how to decorate your room? Worry not, we are here to help! Come let your creativity loose with painting materials and plenty of DIY ideas to make your room truly your’s. 

Day 4:

Parade Brunch:

Time: 8:30am-11:00am

Recommended: Eat up, there won’t be meal service for lunch today!

UTSU Tri-Campus Parade:

Location: King’s College Circle

You’ve probably heard about the most anticipated event of Frosh Week. Get excited for UofT parade! Downtown Toronto shuts down as thousands of students file into the streets and cheer for their college (or campus). Trinity may be the smallest college, but we definitely have the biggest spirit! TRIN LOVES TRIN

Recommended: Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a water bottle!! 

HIIT 101:

Time:11:30am-1:00m

Location: Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport

Enjoy a private Trinity HIIT workout class. It’s the perfect heart-pounding, sweat inducing, endorphin rushing mix of High Intensity Interval Training. We’ll inspire you to fight hard and dream bigger. All fitness levels are welcome, and all will be challenged for your own ability.

Campus-Wide Clubs Fair:

Trinity College’s highest body of student government is the Trinity College Meeting (TCM). The TCM is unique to Trinity as we are the only college in North America whose governance is conducted by direct democracy. Come join in on the discussion!

Recommended: Wear your gowns.

Matriculation:

Location: Faculty of Music Building (Depart from Quad)

A beloved Trinity College tradition, Matriculation formally welcomes 2T2’s into the college as official members. Be sure to come out, and write your name in the book. A formal reception to follow.

Recommended: Formal dress is encouraged.

Take the load off before your first day of classes and grab some late night bites! We’ll be showing you around to some of the places you can visit while you pull all-nighters during exam season. Locations include McDonalds, Chatime, and Yogurty’s

Frosh will get a chance to visit the UofT Bookstore with their leaders in staggered visits, to accommodate class hours. Come to the Quad at meet a Frosh leader at 3PM, 3:45PM, 4:30PM to visit the bookstore with your fellow peers!

Recommended: Bring a list of things you need from the bookstore, so you don’t forget.

Quad Sports:

Time: 3:00-5:30pm

Location:

Trinity Students have always been known for their dominance of UofT’s intramural scene but the college is even more famous for its casual athletics. Squash. Wall Ball. Ultimate Frisbee. Frosh will learn the ways of Trinity’s finer athletic sensibilities while letting loose with a few games of ultimate frisbee in the Quad.

Trin x KPE: Graffiti Night

Time: 8:00pm-12:00am

Location: Adelaide Hall

Adelaide Hall (also known as Radio), is in the center of downtown Toronto and is the perfect place to listen to some great music and dance with friends! 

Recommended: Wear an old white t-shirt to this dance party so you can “graffiti” each other’s shirts!

Trivia Night:

Time: 8:00pm-10:30pm

Location: JCR

Play against other teams to put your knowledge of pop culture, history, politics, and society to the test.

Day 6:

Bike to the Waterfront Tour:

Bike around the city and stop at different locations, with a guided bike tour!

Trinity Clubs Fair:

Frosh can get a first look at some of Trinity’s many clubs set up in the Quad and can speak with executives about getting involved at the college. Come to learn or just come for free gelato!

Time: 8:00pm-11:00pm

Spend Friday night with the Sharks in Toronto’s only aquarium experience. See Rainbow Reef, Stingray Bay, and even Sharks in the Dangerous Lagoon. The aquarium is filled with great displays, unique views, and interactive activities.

Recommended: Come early, as limited spots are available!

Snakes and Lattes:

The Toronto board game cafe that we all know and love (and you will too), Snakes and Lattes, is coming to Trinity! Get ready for a night full of fun and games. 

Day 7:

Art Gallery of Ontario:

Location: Art Gallery of Ontario (Meet in Quad)

Visit one of the largest art galleries in North America, that presents wide-ranging exhibitions and programs, taking special care to showcase diverse and underrepresented artists. Be sure to check out their newest exhibit, “Crossing the Line: Political Satire from 1800 to Today”.

Kensington Thrift Shopping:

Time: 1:00-4:00pm

Location: Kensington Market (Meet in Quad)

Join your frosh leaders and exec on a (thrift) shopping spree and tour of Toronto’s wonderful Kensington Market! Have Courage, My Love, and find some cheap styles, or give in to your Last Temptations and try some of the local cuisines.

This is it: the most anticipated event of your Orientation Week. Step into the Quad, and be taken to Rome circa 200 BC, where you can dance the night away in the standard dress of the era.

Recommended: Toga dress code encouraged!

Karaoke:

Did somebody say…American Idol? Come on out to hear your newfound friends sing or scream into a microphone!

Day 8:

Location: Depart from Quad

Frosh will undergo their final transformation into UofT students. Frosh will be divided based on their intended programs into five streams: Rotman, CompSci/Math, Life Sci, Humanities, and Social Sciences. Current Upper Year students from those programs will take frosh on a tour of the buildings where department classes are most frequently held so students know how to get to class. Welcome to Bahen, Convocation Hall, Bader Theatre and McLennan Physical!

Meet Upper Years in your Program!

After a week of fun, it’s time to get serious (but not too serious)! This is your prime opportunity to ask any questions you might have about university life. Should I take MAT135, 137 or 157? Is the textbook really necessary for POL100? Will I be able to handle taking 6 courses? Not to fear, the second years and upper years will have the answers.

Recommended: Ask non-academic questions if you have any as well.

Meet your 2019-2020 Heads Team in each of their common rooms! Visit one room or visit all.

Whit Common: Whit will be joining with TCES (Trinity College Environmental Society) to create evergreen and flowering planters to keep in your rooms! Please bring the mason jars from your Whit welcome package to reuse as a vase!

Massey Common: Come relax and unwind before your first full week of classes in the Massey Common room! We’ll be hosting a movie night and you can bet that pizza will be plentiful.

Burgess Common: It’s spa night at Burgess Common! Come, enjoy a face mask, and chill out with us. Supplies will be provided but feel free to bring whatever you normally use – drop that skincare routine!

NRAC Common: Loved racing around all week? Come hang out in NRAC as we race down Rainbow Road instead! Mario Kart, snacks & good times includedMacklem Common: We will be doing a Catan Tournament
